LeadMagic

API-first B2B enrichment layer: verified work emails, direct mobiles, company data, and job-change signals via REST API, CLI, MCP server, and in-app tools — with pay-per-result credits and no charge for failed lookups.

Data Enrichment Free trial Credit-based
Quick Verdict

LeadMagic is the most developer- and AI-agent-native enrichment API in the GTM stack: four surfaces (app, REST, CLI, MCP), one credit pool, a fully published rate card, and a genuinely buyer-friendly billing model where misses cost nothing. It is best for GTM engineers, agencies running Clay waterfalls, and high-volume senders who need verified emails and mobiles inside existing workflows. The trade-offs are the $99/mo floor with no free enrichment credits (only a 14-day Search trial for browsing), single-source coverage rather than multi-provider waterfall, and no SOC 2/ISO attestation — acceptable for most, disqualifying for the most regulated buyers.

Overview

LeadMagic (leadmagic.io) is an API-first B2B enrichment layer: it finds verified work emails, direct mobile numbers, company data, and job-change signals, and returns them through whichever surface you already work in — a dashboard for bulk CSVs, a REST API for production pipelines, the lm CLI for terminal jobs, and a hosted MCP server (mcp.leadmagic.io) so AI agents like Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT can call the same data live. One account, one credit balance, four interfaces.

The positioning is deliberately anti-platform: most data vendors want to be your CRM, your sequencer, and your database. LeadMagic wants to be the enrichment layer inside tools you already run — Clay, Smartlead, Instantly, Apollo, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier, n8n, Make — or inside your own product. The economics are the most transparent in the category: a fully published rate card (Email Finder 1 credit, Mobile Finder 5 credits, Email Validation 0.25 credits, Employee Finder 0.05 credits, and so on), and a no-charge-for-misses policy — failed lookups, API errors, and unknown validation results consume no credits.

The company was founded by Jesse Ouellette, an enterprise salesperson who got fired after pushing back on a company-mandated email-signature policy (rich-text signatures pull in tracking pixels and messy HTML that spam filters flag), then went deep into email deliverability and verification before productizing it. LeadMagic launched API-first in February 2024, shipped a self-serve SaaS dashboard in mid-2024, and by 2026 repositioned as AI-native GTM infrastructure with the CLI, MCP, and chat surfaces. It is bootstrapped with no VC, per the vendor's own story page. Vendor-claimed scale: ~2,000 active subscribers, 1M+ business emails found daily, ~1B email validations monthly, and 1B+ API calls made through Clay — for which Clay awarded it the Unstoppable Wheel award.

What it does

LeadMagic's product set covers the full contact-data lifecycle on one API key:

  1. Find. Email Finder returns a verified work email from a name and domain (1 credit); Personal Email Finder finds personal addresses when work emails are missing (2 credits); Mobile Finder returns direct dials for decision-makers (5 credits); Profile Search turns B2B profile URLs into contacts, emails, and phones (1 credit); Employee Finder and Role Finder enumerate people at a domain (0.05–2 credits).
  2. Validate. Email Validation checks inboxes and resolves catch-all domains (0.25 credits per conclusive result — unknown results are free). LeadMagic's signature use case is catch-all revivification: legacy verifiers bucket catch-all responses as unusable; the vendor showcases a case where a cold-email agency revalidated 500 positive replies and LeadMagic resolved every one as valid while MillionVerifier buried 73 as catch-all, recovering $27,500 in booked-meeting revenue (self-reported benchmark, vendor claim).
  3. Search. People Search across 400M+ profiles by title, function, seniority, company, and geo; Company Search across 25M+ companies with firmographic and technographic filters; Job Search across 46M+ postings for hiring, growth, and buying signals. Search is included from the Essential plan, and unmetered API browse (5–10 RPS, 13,333 searches/day, 10M records/month) is available on Professional and Ultimate.
  4. Enrich. Company Enrichment adds firmographics, technographics, and funding data per domain; the Job Change Detector (3 credits/request) flags when your contacts change roles — a strong moment-based trigger.

Everything is reachable via the same surfaces: app (dashboard, AI chat, GTM List Builder), REST API (/v1/people/email-finder, /v1/people/email-validation, /v1/people/mobile-finder, /v3/people/search, /v3/companies/search, /v3/jobs/search, and more), CLI (lm for bulk jobs and automation), and MCP with OAuth so agents connect to the same credit balance without a static API key in client config.

Pricing

LeadMagic is credit-based subscription pricing, pay-per-result, with one credit pool across every endpoint. There is no free plan — new accounts choose a paid plan at signup (self-serve starts at $99/mo) — but LeadMagic offers a 14-day Search trial with no automatic paid charge: in-app People, Company, and Jobs Search browsing is free to explore (unmetered browse included on Professional/Ultimate), while enrichment (email/mobile finding, validation) outside that included browse remains credit-metered. No free enrichment credits are issued.

  • Essential — $99/mo (or $990/yr, 2 months free): 5,000 credits/mo ($0.0198/credit); 300 RPM for Email Finder and Validation; 10k exports/day; search included.
  • Growth — $249/mo ($2,490/yr): 20,000 credits ($0.0124/credit); 600 RPM; 25k exports/day; Slack support and success rep.
  • Professional — $499/mo ($4,990/yr): 50,000 credits ($0.0100/credit); 1,000 RPM; unmetered API browse at 5 RPS; 50k exports/day; team analytics.
  • Ultimate — $849/mo ($8,490/yr): 100,000 credits ($0.0085/credit, $0.0071/credit on annual); 1,500 RPM; unmetered API browse at 10 RPS; 100k exports/day; integration consulting and SLA.

Notes: annual plans bill upfront and save two monthly payments. Legacy 2x monthly credit rollover is grandfathered on existing terms; annual allocations refresh yearly. A 1M HTTP requests/mo free preview replaces the old 100k–750k caps. Enterprise Security starts at $10,000 and is available only on annual plans. Team access is by request — a higher plan price does not automatically enable team features. Rate limits are published: Email Finder and Validation each have a rolling 60-second allowance per tier; 429 rejections consume no credits.

Per-credit economics: $0.0198/credit at the floor down to $0.0071/credit on annual Ultimate — that's $1.98 per 100 emails at the entry point and $0.71 per 100 emails at the top of the stack. Mobiles cost 5 credits ($0.99–$0.36 each), which undercuts many 10-credit mobile vendors.

Weaknesses

  • The $99/mo floor with no free enrichment credits. Competitors like Prospeo and BetterContact start around $15–49/mo with free trial credits. LeadMagic's 14-day Search trial covers People/Company/Jobs Search browsing but not enrichment — to actually test email/mobile finding or validation, solo operators and small agencies must commit a $99 month.
  • Single-source coverage. LeadMagic is one database, not a waterfall. On hard domains, a waterfall platform like BetterContact will route across 20+ providers; LeadMagic's find rate depends on its own database. No provider attribution or sequence customization.
  • Compliance posture. TLS 1.3, AES-256, published Privacy Policy and DPA with SCCs — but no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 attestation, and Enterprise Security is a $10k+ custom add-on on annual plans. Bootstrapped, founder-led team.
  • Team features behind requests. Higher plan prices do not automatically include team access; you must request it.
  • Self-reported benchmarks. The catch-all resolution head-to-head against MillionVerifier is the vendor's own case study, not an independent audit.

Alternatives

  • Prospeo — comparable email/phone finder with verified data and a lower entry point (~$15/mo).
  • BetterContact — waterfall enrichment across 20+ providers with pay-only-for-valid-data billing, starting ~$15/mo.
  • FullEnrich — waterfall enrichment with 15+ providers.
  • Apollo.io — full prospecting database with intent data and built-in sequencer; more platform, less API-first.
  • Findymail — email finder with a lower entry price.
  • BounceBan — verification-focused alternative for catch-all-heavy lists.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • ✓ Strongest transparency in billing: no charge for failed lookups, unknown validation results free, published rate card for every endpoint
  • ✓ AI-native surface breadth: REST, CLI (lm), hosted MCP with OAuth, chat, and bulk CSV — one account and credit balance across all four
  • ✓ Deep deliverability pedigree (founder from email-delivery consulting) with catch-all resolution and real-time validation
  • ✓ Vendor-claimed ~1M business emails found daily and ~1B validations monthly across ~2,000 subscribers; 1B+ API calls with Clay and Clay's Unstoppable Wheel award
  • ✓ Responsive API: <200ms typical response, tiered RPM (300–1,500) for Email Finder/Validation, generous 1M HTTP requests/mo free preview
  • ✓ Full rate card published (Email Finder 1 credit, Mobile Finder 5, Validation 0.25, Employee Finder 0.05, etc.) — no opaque bundles
  • ✓ Firmographics, technographics, funding, jobs data, and intent signals on one API key

Limitations

  • ✗ Entry price excludes solo/small teams — $99/mo minimum with no free enrichment credits (14-day Search trial covers search browsing only)
  • ✗ No waterfall across multiple providers, so coverage on hard domains depends on one database
  • ✗ Founder-led, bootstrapped team (no VC) — fewer compliance attestations and support depth than enterprise vendors
  • ✗ Team access and Enterprise Security require custom requests, not self-serve
  • ✗ Vendor benchmarks (catch-all resolution vs MillionVerifier) are self-reported, not independently audited

Integrations

Clay Apollo Smartlead Instantly Salesforge Email Bison Salesforce HubSpot Zapier Make n8n Databar ZoomInfo Freckle Bitscale ColdIQ OutboundSync Claude ChatGPT Cursor MCP server (mcp.leadmagic.io)

Use Cases

  • Enrich a CSV or Clay table of prospects with verified work emails and mobiles before they hit the sequencer, paying only for found records.
  • Revalidate a cold-email list and resolve catch-all responses before sending to protect domain reputation.
  • Build ICP lists from scratch via People/Company Search filters and job-change signals, then route to SDRs or AI agents.
  • Give AI agents (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT) live verified enrichment through hosted MCP tools without exposing an API key in client config.
  • Enrich CRM records (Salesforce, HubSpot) before handoff to sales with firmographics and job-change signals.

Who Should Use LeadMagic?

Best for

  • ✓Developer-heavy or GTM-engineering teams that want enrichment as an API layer rather than another app
  • ✓Clay and Smartlead/Instantly users wiring enrichment into waterfalls (1B+ API calls with Clay per vendor)
  • ✓High-volume senders who need catch-all resolution and validation before sending
  • ✓Teams billing sensitivity: no charges for failed lookups or unknown validation results
  • ✓AI-agent-first teams wanting one account across API, CLI, MCP, and chat

Not ideal for

  • —Teams wanting a full prospecting platform with intent data, sequences, and CRM built in — LeadMagic is deliberately a layer, not the app
  • —Very small budgets: the $99/mo entry point is the highest floor among comparable enrichment APIs (e.g., Prospeo, BetterContact start ~$15–49)
  • —Buyers who need free enrichment credits to evaluate before paying (no free plan; the 14-day Search trial covers in-app search browsing only — enrichment is credit-metered, self-serve starts at $99/mo)
  • —Teams needing SOC 2/ISO 27001 attestation — only TLS 1.3, AES-256, published DPA with SCCs, and Enterprise Security from $10k on annual plans
  • —Phone-first teams comparing against 10-credit mobile vendors should note mobiles cost 5 credits here — but mobile coverage is a single-source bet, not a waterfall
